Snowflake Engineer Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite in Boston, MA 6 Month Contract-To-Hire Role Overview This role is a senior, hands-on technical position responsible for architecting, building, and operating a modern data and AI ecosystem within a regulated financial environment. The individual will own core components of the organization’s data platform, ranging from ingestion and warehousing through analytics and AI enablement, while ensuring security, performance, and regulatory alignment. The position sits within a small, high-impact engineering group and requires someone who is comfortable operating autonomously, making architectural decisions, and balancing strategic initiatives with day-to-day execution. In addition to deep technical delivery, this role will influence how business users consume data and adopt AI-driven capabilities across the organization. Key Responsibilities Data Platform Architecture & Delivery β€’ Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data warehouse solutions leveraging Snowflake and AWS. β€’ Define and evolve data models, schemas, and storage patterns that support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases. Platform Ownership & Optimization β€’ Serve as the primary owner of the Snowflake environment, including performance tuning, cost governance, workload optimization, and access management. β€’ Establish standards for environment configuration, security controls, and operational best practices. AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement β€’ Build and integrate AI-driven solutions using a mix of native cloud services and third-party platforms. β€’ Partner with stakeholders to operationalize generative AI and machine learning capabilities using services such as Snowflake Cortex, Amazon Bedrock, and related technologies. Reporting & Business Intelligence Support β€’ Oversee BI and reporting platforms, ensuring reliable data availability and meaningful insights for business users. β€’ Develop and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and semantic layers as needed. Data Access, Enablement & Advisory β€’ Act as a subject-matter expert for data usage, providing guidance on data interpretation, reporting standards, and analytical best practices. β€’ Support and enable internal users to self-serve data responsibly and effectively. Governance, Security & Compliance β€’ Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, security controls, encryption standards, and access policies aligned with financial services regulations. β€’ Collaborate closely with security and IT partners to ensure compliance and audit readiness. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement β€’ Work with engineering, IT, security, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions. β€’ Continuously refine data processes, documentation, and quality controls to improve reliability and trust in data assets. Qualifications & Experience Required β€’ 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data platform development, or software engineering. β€’ Demonstrated experience supporting data solutions within banking or financial services environments. β€’ Deep, hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including administration, performance optimization, and cost management (6+ years). β€’ Strong experience building and operating data solutions on AWS (4+ years). β€’ Advanced SQL skills and proficiency with Python for data engineering and automation. β€’ Experience supporting or managing BI and analytics tools such as Sigma, Omni, or similar platforms. β€’ Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. β€’ Ability to operate independently, own initiatives end-to-end, and lead complex technical efforts. Preferred β€’ Practical experience designing or deploying AI/ML or generative AI solutions in production environments. β€’ Familiarity with AI platforms such as Snowflake Cortex, Amazon Bedrock, or comparable services. β€’ Exposure to core banking platforms and loan origination systems such as Jack Henry or eNcino.
