Splunk Engineer (Short Project)
Type: 100-hour contract, somewhat flexible work hours
Pay: Up to $90/hr.
Location: 100% remote
β’ Note, this is a short-term migration/integration project that should only take about ~100 hours to complete
β’ OverviewWe are seeking a Splunk Engineer to lead the migration of a customers current Splunk environment from a standalone deployment to a clustered, best-practice architecture. The engineer will be responsible for architecture buildout, data and application migration, compliance validation, and operational handoff.
Key Responsibilities
Build and configure a clustered Splunk Enterprise environment (indexer cluster, search head clusters, license manager, deployer, heavy forwarder).
Migrate from all-in-one Splunk server to distributed architecture while ensuring minimal disruption.
Inventory and validate existing Splunk apps, technology add-ons, dashboards, and knowledge objects.
Replace or remediate applications for compatibility with clustered architecture.
Migrate indexed data and validate data integrity.
Conduct compliance validation checks (RMF, STIG, NIST, CMMC).
Develop operational documentation and deliver knowledge transfer sessions for engineering and security teams.
Collaborate with the customer's IT/security teams on firewall configuration, compliance findings, and exception handling.
Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security (ES).
Expertise in clustered Splunk architecture design and deployment.
Experience migrating Splunk apps, dashboards, and indexed data.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (RMF, STIG, NIST, CMMC).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
