This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-impact data project as a Data & Insight Analyst, contributing in a contract capacity for an initial six-month term.
You’ll play a key role in owning and delivering critical insight that informs both operational and commercial decision-making within a data-led, customer-focused energy business. While this is very much a front-end analytics role, it requires strong technical capability to extract, interrogate, and manipulate data using SQL—from writing queries and building statements to cleansing and preparing data sets.
You’ll be working with complex retail ledger data such as sales transactions, payment histories, and defaults, helping shape business strategy through clear, actionable insight.
Key Responsibilities
• Write and optimise SQL queries to extract and transform large volumes of customer and financial data
• Analyse how customer behaviours—particularly around debt and payment history—impact the P&L
• Work with retail ledger data: sales, balances, payment records, and defaults
• Deliver clear, visual reports and metrics reflecting financial and customer performance
• Provide real-time, actionable insights to support smarter decision-making
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and business relevance
• Help develop strategic capability around customer and transactional data
Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience in a data and insight-focused role with strong analytical output
• Advanced SQL skills — confident writing, modifying, and optimising complex queries
• Proficient in Excel for data preparation and analysis
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau (preferred)
• Strong numerical skills and ability to turn complex data into clear, meaningful insight
• Effective communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
• Familiarity with retail ledger data, customer propensities, and financial transactions (desirable)
• Energy sector experience (desirable)
Contract Details
• 3 days per week (fractional contract)
• £400 per day (outside IR35)
• Hybrid: fully remote, but must be UK-based and available for occasional project meetings (kick-off and wrap-up)
• Must be available to start within the next two weeks
Please apply for further job & interview details.
