We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join a NHS Trust on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and maintenance of databases and reporting solutions to support clinical, operational, and management teams. This role is critical in ensuring the trustβs data infrastructure supports effective decision-making, service delivery, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
β’ Design and manage databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
β’ Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes for reporting and analysis.
β’ Work closely with BI teams, analysts, and clinical departments to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
β’ Develop automated solutions for recurring reporting needs.
β’ Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of existing SQL code and databases.
β’ Ensure compliance with NHS information governance, GDPR, and data protection policies.
β’ Participate in system upgrades, data migrations, and integration projects.
β’ Provide technical documentation and handover to permanent teams where required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
β’ Strong experience in SQL development, including writing complex T-SQL scripts and stored procedures.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS, SSRS, SSIS).
β’ Proven experience with data extraction, transformation, and reporting in a healthcare setting (ideally within the NHS).
β’ Familiarity with NHS datasets such as SUS, HES, RTT, or other clinical reporting standards.
β’ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
β’ Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS).
β’ Good understanding of data governance, GDPR, and security best practices
