Role description
Project Overview This role supports the design, engineering, deployment, and production support of GuideWell cloud platforms, including integration with enterprise financial tools such as Flexera. The focus is on cloud platform engineering and services enablement, not virtualization management or cloud migrations. The engineer will own the design and deployment of cloud services and core platform capabilities used across the enterprise. Job Summary The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, deployment, and ongoing production support of cloud platforms and services across AWS or Azure environments. This role requires a true Cloud Engineer who builds and owns cloud platforms, not a cloud user, not a DevOps engineer, and not a migration or virtualization specialist. The engineer partners with finance, security, and application teams to ensure cloud platforms are reliable, secure, and scalable. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer enterprise cloud platforms and core cloud services in AWS or Azure Deploy and own production cloud infrastructure and platform services Engineer cloud networking, security, identity, and access services Integrate cloud platforms with enterprise financial systems such as Flexera or similar tools Monitor cloud platform performance, utilization, and availability Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex cloud platform issues Manage platform upgrades, refreshes, and patching activities Support disaster recovery planning and execution for cloud platforms Develop automation and scripting to improve platform reliability and efficiency Partner with security, finance, and application teams on cloud platform initiatives Produce operational and financial reporting for cloud services Participate in on-call platform support as required Requirements 8 or more years of hands-on cloud platform engineering experience Proven experience designing and deploying cloud platforms and services in AWS or Azure Demonstrated ownership of cloud platform architecture and engineering Strong experience with cloud networking, security, monitoring, and platform operations Experience supporting enterprise scale production cloud platforms Strong scripting and automation skills for platform operations Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and take full ownership of cloud platform responsibilities Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or equivalent professional experience Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud financial management platforms such as Flexera, NICUS, Apptio, or CloudHealth Multi-cloud platform engineering experience Experience supporting high sensitivity or regulated enterprise systems Healthcare, insurance, or financial services industry background Experience integrating cloud platforms with enterprise financial systems Additional Details 100 percent remote position, United States based Core business hours are 8am to 5pm Eastern, Monday through Friday
