Sr Data Analyst/Engineer
100% Remote
6 month - 1 year long contract, could be extended
Normal Hours M-F EST
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst with a strong background in healthcare data management and reporting. This role focuses on maintaining the health of both logical data models and actual data, with a key emphasis on data integrity, patient matching, and metric optimization.
The analyst will work heavily with SQL databases, pulling data from systems such as Epic and various health information exchanges, linking it to Power BI for reporting. Youβll serve as a vital resource in maintaining and improving the organization's data warehouse and analytic infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy and usability of data used in performance and quality reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage and maintain data pulled from Epic and other health data exchanges.
β’ Ensure integrity and cleanliness of data in the warehouse (SQL-based).
β’ Match patient records from Epic to census categories and geographic data for accurate analysis.
β’ Maintain and enhance reporting tools, primarily in Power BI, supporting population health and quality improvement initiatives.
β’ Optimize existing performance metrics and calculations, originally built in 2019, to improve speed and scalability.
β’ Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for clinical stakeholders.
β’ Serve as a "data mechanic" β resolving technical data issues and improving overall warehouse performance.
β’ Perform ad-hoc reporting using R.
β’ Work closely with clinical and operational teams to contextualize data and explain its impact on patient care.
Must-Have Qualifications:
β’ 6+ years of experience in Data Analytics
β’ Advanced SQL experience β ideally someone who considers themselves a "data mechanic."
β’ Proficiency in R for ad-hoc analysis and data exploration.
β’ Strong Power BI skills for building and maintaining reporting dashboards.
β’ Ability to make data digestible for non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Familiarity with Epic data (accessing via Clarity/Caboodle, though Epic certification is not required).
β’ Solid understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and terminology.
β’ Experience presenting data insights to clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Background in population health analytics.
β’ Experience working with Epic Caboodle.
β’ Prior consulting experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
Soft Skills:
β’ Strong communicator with the ability to translate data into clinical impact.
β’ Comfortable engaging with clinicians to explain data context and usage.
β’ Problem-solver with an eye for detail and a passion for data accuracy.
β’ Self-motivated and able to thrive in a remote work environment.
