Role description
Kavaliro is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer with an understanding of motion simulators for a local Jacksonville client. This position will be onsite Monday - Friday, with hybrid opportunities in the future. You will lead a diverse skill set team working with simulation development professionals while responsible for the full Software Development Life Cycle of products. Key Responsibilities β€’ Act as the primary technical liaison for customers, ensuring contractual requirements are fully met. β€’ Design, adapt, and configure train simulation software in C++ for a variety of training platforms, including large-scale motion simulators, portable desktop solutions, and cloud-based systems. β€’ Debug and resolve issues within the codebase using Microsoft Visual Studio. β€’ Lead the hardware/software development and integration phase of assigned projects. β€’ Support installation, testing, and corrective activities in collaboration with internal teams and customers. β€’ Develop and validate software updates prior to client deployment. β€’ Provide technical direction to engineers and technicians involved in your projects. β€’ Contribute to ongoing maintenance and technology upgrades. β€’ Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance. Minimum Qualifications β€’ 3+ years of hands-on C++ development experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, with knowledge of multi-threading for high-performance applications and MFC libraries. β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) plus at least 2 years of technical engineering experience working with C++. β€’ At least 2 years of experience leading software architecture initiatives, managing projects from design through implementation and operational support. β€’ Strong object-oriented programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills. β€’ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. β€’ Self-driven with strong work ethic and the ability to operate independently. β€’ Quick learner, adaptable to new technologies and approaches. β€’ Innovative problem solver who can think beyond conventional solutions. β€’ Capable of performing hands-on hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting in support of simulation development. β€’ Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Desired Skills β€’ Familiarity with languages and tools such as VBA, PHP, JavaScript, Perl, SQL, Python, MFC, QT UI, and batch scripting. β€’ Knowledge of REST API and web service integration. β€’ Experience with GIS data. β€’ Proficiency in Trello or other Kanban-style project management tools. β€’ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. β€’ Strong technical writing and communication skills in English. β€’ Background in modeling, simulation, or the railway industry (a plus). β€’ Demonstrated leadership experience with an interest in developing team capabilities. β€’ Comfortable working with large, complex systems and established codebases. β€’ Applied knowledge of engineering mathematics (e.g., mass, force, acceleration, inertia, momentum, power, friction).
