Role description
Job Title: Sr. Staff SoC BSW Engineer Location: Dearborn michigan Duration: Long Term Client : Stellantis Position Summary: We are seeking a Sr. Staff SoC BSW Engineer – OS & Hypervisor, Cybersecurity to lead the secure design, development, and integration of operating system and hypervisor software components for next-generation automotive SoC platforms. This role combines deep OS and virtualization knowledge with a strong focus on cybersecurity compliance, enabling secure and high-performance execution across multicore domains. You will be part of the Base Software (BSW) Engineering team at Stellantis, working across critical automotive platforms including Autonomous Driving, Infotainment, and Connected Vehicle Systems, while ensuring security compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE WP.29. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Lead the design and integration of OS and hypervisor platforms (e.g., QNX, QNX Hypervisor, Linux, Android GVM) for automotive SoCs β€’ Architect and implement cybersecurity features at the OS and virtualization layers, including secure boot, runtime isolation, access control, and memory protection β€’ Collaborate with platform security teams to define and implement threat mitigations, attack surface reduction, and secure software lifecycle practices β€’ Develop and configure drivers for UART, SPI, PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, and LVDS β€’ Contribute to BSP integration, system bring-up, and OS/Hypervisor initialization on new SoC platforms β€’ Debug and troubleshoot system-level issues using industry-standard tools such as JTAG, logic analyzers, and trace probes β€’ Write and maintain scripts (Python, Shell, CLI tools) to automate diagnostics, configuration, and security validation β€’ Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and functional safety standards including ISO/SAE 21434, ISO 26262, and ASPICE β€’ Support CI/CD pipelines, automated test environments, and participate in Agile/Scrum-based development workflows β€’ Act as a technical mentor and provide architecture reviews and guidance on secure system software design Basic Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field β€’ 10+ years of experience in embedded software development, including OS/hypervisor integration and security architecture β€’ Strong programming skills in C/C++, and familiarity with secure coding practices and static analysis β€’ Deep expertise in at least one OS/hypervisor platform such as QNX, Linux, or Android GVM, and virtualization technologies β€’ Hands-on experience with secure boot, access control mechanisms, MMU/MPU configuration, and cryptographic libraries β€’ Proven experience with BSP development, device drivers, and SoC bring-up Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field β€’ Experience with security threat modeling, penetration testing, and risk assessment β€’ Familiarity with hardware security features (TPM, TrustZone, HSM) and secure firmware β€’ Deep understanding of ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29, and automotive cybersecurity requirements β€’ Experience working on ASIL-B/D safety-rated systems β€’ Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, and test automation for embedded platforms β€’ Exposure to vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet, LIN) and network security protocols
