Role description
Western Governors University (WGU) is looking for an individual to participate as a Subject Matter Expert for our BS Data Analytics program design project. This position is 100% remote. Subject Matter Experts provide valuable real-world knowledge and experience to the development of the courses we offer our students. This is a part-time/project-based position, where you would work with WGU as an Independent Contractor. Subject Matter Experts MUST meet the following criteria: • Master’s degree or above preferred; Bachelor’s with strong industry experience acceptable. • Minimum 5–10 years experience in data analytics/science, BI, applied ML, or cloud analytics • Preferred Industry Certifications: CompTIA Data+, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900), IBM AI Engineering. • Current/Previous experience as: Data Analyst, BI Analyst/Developer, Applied Data Scientist, Analytics Manager (hands-on). • Experience developing academic programs preferred. • Prefer experience with Data Analytics, Power BI, Python, SQL, Data Visualization, Machine Learning, AI Fundamentals Project Information Dates: 1/19 to 3/31 (Subject to slight change) Location: Remote Time commitment: Approximately 72 hours Compensation: $5,400.00 Other compensation and benefits: This position is for an independent contractor and is not eligible for other compensation or benefits. Scope of work: Work collaboratively to support the assigned development teams program development needs. Determination of program competencies and outcomes for the program pathway. Determination of assessment strategy. Provide input on course scope notes and course descriptions. Support the determination of the standard course path. Deliver all agreed upon materials within the agreed upon timelines after each meeting. Provide input on learning resources that may be of value for the program. Provide consultation regarding alignment of courses to accreditation/industry standards and provide consultation regarding strategies to design market-leading courses.
