Supply Chain Planner (Contract)
Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Summary
This position plays a vital role in ensuring seamless Azure server hardware deployment through meticulous short-term planning and capacity management. The successful candidate will serve as a critical link between demand forecasting and supply execution, coordinating the flow of work and materials to guarantee that infrastructure resources are available precisely when and where customers need them. This role requires a strategic thinker who can independently analyze complex data sets, identify potential gaps in capacity, and proactively develop mitigation strategies to prevent service disruptions. Working primarily autonomously with periodic cross-functional collaboration, this professional will leverage advanced analytical skills to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced cloud infrastructure environment. The position offers the unique opportunity to directly impact the availability and reliability of critical server infrastructure while working with cutting-edge technology platforms.
Job Responsibilities
• Analyze Azure compute demand signals and deployment forecasts to identify gaps between demand and supply
• Coordinate with Regional Capacity Managers to validate infrastructure requirements and establish planning priorities
• Perform short-term capacity planning activities to ensure servers are prepared and available for deployment needs
• Utilize Excel and reporting tools such as Power BI to analyze operational data and generate actionable planning insights
• Identify supply chain, inventory, or deployment risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues
• Compile and deliver reports on inventory levels, costs, capacity utilization, and planning updates to internal stakeholders
• Balance independent analytical work with periodic collaboration across planning and operations teams
• Expedite the flow of work and materials within and between departments according to production schedules
• Monitor and report on capacity planning metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
• Five to seven years of progressive experience in supply chain planning or closely related fields
• Prior experience with Microsoft or similar technology-focused organizations is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated track record of capacity planning and demand-supply analysis
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis and modeling
• Strong expertise in supply chain planning fundamentals and logistics principles
• Advanced data analytics capabilities with focus on operational metrics
• Proficiency in reporting and visualization tools, particularly Power BI
• Operational risk assessment and scenario analysis for demand-supply balancing
• Capacity planning and resource allocation methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement
• Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet deadlines
• Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
