Role description
Our client, a major Oil and gas company, is looking for a Survey Data Analyst to work on a long term contract in Washington DC Role Description: This contract role as a Data Analyst focuses on processing and analyzing public opinion and survey data-preparing SPSS datasets, including weighting, tabulations, data transformations, and producing research deliverables such as toplines-while also supporting the development of standardized data libraries and documentation. The position would sit within Corporate Affairs Reputation Management team, applying statistical and research methods to inform insights, stakeholder sentiment, and strategic decision-making across the corporate affairs organization. Responsibilities: • Primary: Perform data processing on raw survey data using repeatable syntax, with emphasis on scripts for data validation, weighting, and summary tabulations. Preparing research documents such toplines and specifications for cross-tabulations. • Secondary: Writing procedures, documentation, and/or training guides for data collection practices and initial data processing. • Tertiary: Support survey development (including programming and testing) and managing survey/data collection firms. Perform secondary research, including literature reviews, internet research, sampling documentation, and database review. Qualifications/Skills: • Bachelors degree in Sociology, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. • Minimum 3 years of work experience in data collection and analysis, survey design and implementation, public opinion research, polling, or market research is required. • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Python, Q Research); strong preference for SPSS. • Experience with Excel or Qualtrics (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables) and thorough knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Knowledge of sampling sources (voter files, online panels, listed directories) in public opinion research. • Experience in balancing multiple data collection methods (online, telephone). • Experience weighting datasets and working with U.S. census data. • Experience working with survey development software and programming. • Experience that demonstrates a focus on quality, accurate and error-free work • Familiar with the benefits and limitations of research practices. Education: • Bachelors degree in Sociology, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
