We are seeking an experienced Synon CA 2E Consultant to support COBOL application modifications and enhancements for a leading client in the transportation industry. The successful candidate will work remotely, collaborating with distributed Agile teams to maintain and enhance legacy systems. This is a 6-month contract with high potential for extension based on performance and project needs. Responsibilities: • Develop, test, and implement modifications and enhancements to existing COBOL applications using Synon CA 2E. • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business requirements. • Maintain and improve application performance and reliability. • Utilize CA 2E Change Management (CM) for version control and change tracking. • Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and ensure documentation is up to date. • Engage with stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide technical recommendations. • IBM MQSeries is being used to move data between Windows and Linux. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Synon-generated COBOL code and DB2 database interactions. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL development. • Strong expertise in Synon CA 2E (Cool:2E) development and model-based design. • Experience with DB2 on IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) systems. • Proficiency in CA 2E Change Management (CM) tools and methodologies. • Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence). • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in the transportation or logistics industry. • Understanding of modernization or migration strategies for legacy systems.
