Tableau Developer

Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Tableau Developer to join the cMARS team and help strengthen a data-driven culture across R&D. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize intuitive, high-impact Tableau dashboards that transform complex enterprise R&D data into meaningful business insights. You will work closely with data engineers and business analysts to deliver scalable, high-performing, and analytically robust visualizations. This is a hands-on development role, not a reporting or coordination position. Success in this role requires strong Tableau expertise, SQL proficiency, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate evolving business requirements into effective data solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain interactive, user-focused dashboards and reports using Tableau. • Translate business requirements into clear, insightful visualizations and compelling data stories. • Develop advanced Tableau visualizations, including: • Drill-downs and hierarchical navigation • Heat maps, box plots, trend analysis, and statistical charts • Dynamic dashboards using parameters and dashboard actions • Build and optimize complex Tableau calculations, including: • Level of Detail (LOD) expressions • Table calculations • Conditional logic and dynamic formatting • Ensure dashboards are accurate, scalable, and optimized for performance. • Create and maintain dashboard documentation, including mapping specifications, test dashboards, and testing scripts. • Partner with data engineers to: • Define and refine data tables for dashboard consumption • Ensure data quality and usability for analytics • Collaborate with business analysts to refine wireframes, metrics, and functional requirements. • Apply data visualization best practices to improve usability, clarity, and performance. • Troubleshoot data and visualization issues by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. • 5+ years of hands-on Tableau dashboard development experience. • Strong experience building interactive dashboards and complex visualizations. • 3+ years of SQL experience, including: • Joins • Aggregations • Subqueries • Data exploration and validation • Solid understanding of data modeling and relational databases such as Redshift, Oracle, and Snowflake. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. • Experience using JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Excel. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Tableau Certification (e.g., Tableau Certified Data Analyst). • Experience working with R&D or clinical trials data within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. • Experience developing dashboards for enterprise-scale data environments. • Familiarity with Tableau performance optimization techniques. Role Expectations • This is a purely hands-on Tableau development role. • Daily work will involve developing dashboards and writing SQL queries. • Candidates should be able to: • Build Tableau dashboards independently. • Solve complex data and visualization challenges. • Deliver high-quality solutions while working with evolving business requirements.
