Technical Business Analyst - Functional counterpart to Data Engineer
β’ Must have this experience already to be considered
Hours: Standard, 40 hours per week
Length: Open-ended contract with 90 days probation period. Standard contract durations at 6-month duration to start - Open-ended, ideally will extend for 2+ years
Location: Dallas
Onsite/Remote: 3 days onsite required, 2 days remote
Interview/start: Interviews with Data Engineering Team and CTO & Hiring Manager
Technical Business Analyst
This role is the functional counterpart to the Data Engineer
Key Responsibilities
β’ Gather and translate business requirements into clear specs for data engineers and reporting teams
β’ Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting and data analysis needs
β’ Help design logical data models that align with warehouse architecture and business goals
β’ Collaborate with data engineers to ensure pipeline and ETL designs meet functional needs
β’ Analyze large datasets to identify trends and support decision-making
β’ Contribute to Azure-based projects involving ADF, Azure SQL Server, and Databricks
β’ Maintain documentation for requirements, workflows, and data models
β’ Apply knowledge of financial data structures and reporting standards (if applicable)
Requirements
β’ Proven expertise as a Technical Business Analyst
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, or related field
β’ Strong SQL skills for querying and data analysis
β’ Understanding of core data warehouse concepts and logical data modeling
β’ Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams on data pipeline design
β’ Familiarity with Azure services (ADF, Azure SQL, Databricks preferred but not required)
β’ Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
β’ Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
