Role description
Contract Opportunity: Technical Business Analyst Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35) Location: Remote-first (UK) Travel: Very occasional collaboration days in Leeds Start: ASAP We’re looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a consultancy delivery team on a contract basis, working in a fast-paced, agile environment on complex digital work. This role suits a BA who is comfortable operating at both a technical and delivery level, bringing clarity to ambiguous problem spaces and helping teams focus on what genuinely needs to be delivered versus what is a nice to have. The Role You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, user researchers and designers to shape, prioritise and refine requirements as they come into the team in many different forms. Strong ownership of user stories and backlog quality will be key, alongside the ability to balance technical understanding with core BA practices. This is a hands-on role where prioritisation, pragmatism and collaboration are critical. What You’ll Be Doing • Eliciting and analysing requirements across complex environments • Prioritising incoming work and helping teams focus on value-driven delivery • Owning user stories end-to-end, including elaboration, refinement and readiness • Running 3 Amigos sessions to align engineering, product and design • Working closely with User Researchers and UX Designers within a UCD approach • Facilitating workshops to explore problems, map processes and identify opportunities • Writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation • Managing and refining backlogs using Jira, Azure DevOps or ServiceNow • Supporting and running Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups and sprint planning • Ensuring accessibility considerations are understood and embedded into delivery • Producing clear artefacts including process flows, user journeys and functional specifications • Interpreting data, performing impact assessments and supporting decision-making • Working confidently across multiple workstreams simultaneously What We’re Looking For Essential experience: • Strong experience as a Business Analyst in Agile delivery teams • A technical mindset, comfortable working closely with engineers • Proven ability to prioritise requirements and operate in ambiguous environments • Strong ownership of user stories and backlog management • Confident workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills • Experience working alongside User Researchers and UX Designers • Familiarity with accessibility requirements • Clear and effective written and verbal communication Nice to have: • Experience working in consultancy-style delivery teams • Experience in complex or regulated environments If you’re a Business Analyst who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, users and delivery, and bringing structure to complex problem spaces, we’d love to hear from you.
