Our client, a leading institution in the banking industry, is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join their Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team in Dallas. This role acts as the functional counterpart to the Data Engineer, serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure data-driven decisions are aligned with organizational goals. This is a high-impact position ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong SQL skills and a solid grasp of data architecture. Candidates with experience in Azure cloud services and familiarity with financial data structures are preferred. Key Responsibilities • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business stakeholders to collect, document, and refine functional requirements for data engineering and BI projects. • Technical Specifications: Translate business needs into clear, actionable specifications for data engineers and reporting teams. • SQL & Data Analysis: Write and optimize SQL queries to support data extraction, analysis, and reporting needs. • Data Modeling: Design and maintain logical data models that align with data warehouse architecture and business goals. • Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers to ensure pipelines, ETL processes, and data structures meet functional requirements. • Azure Cloud Projects: Contribute to Azure-based solutions using services such as Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Databricks. • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for business requirements, workflows, and data models. • Decision Support: Analyze large datasets to identify trends and deliver actionable insights. • Financial Data Expertise: Leverage an understanding of financial data structures and regulatory reporting standards where applicable. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field • 6+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst in data-driven environments • Strong proficiency in SQL for data analysis and reporting • Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts and logical data modeling • Experience working closely with engineering teams on data pipelines and ETL designs • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Preferred Qualifications • Experience in the financial services industry • Familiarity with Azure cloud services: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Server, Databricks • Experience with ETL tools like SSIS • Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) • Advanced certifications in data analytics or business analysis
