Overview: Every Turnberry consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Technical Lead - Data Engineer, you will join Turnberry's Data Strategy and Intelligence practice and service. This service provides insights into company data, advanced analytics solutions, robust data governance, and tailored solutions for specific data challenges.
Responsibilities
β’ Lead and Mentor:
β’ Provide technical direction, mentorship, and code review for a team of data engineers and developers focused on integration and analytics
β’ Data Engineering Leadership:
β’ Architect and implement end-to-end data pipelines leveraging Snowflake, dbt, Azure Data Factory, and modern ELT/ETL practices
β’ Integration Architecture:
β’ Design, develop, and maintain APIs and event-based integrations using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability
β’ System Modernization:
β’ Drive modernization of legacy data flows and integration patterns into cloud-based architectures
β’ Cross-Functional Collaboration:
β’ Work closely with business analysts, data architects, and solution architects to translate business needs into technical solutions
β’ Governance and Quality:
β’ Establish and enforce data engineering and integration best practices around CI/CD, testing, and data governance
β’ Security and Compliance:
β’ Ensure all data and integration solutions adhere to company and industry standards for security, compliance, and auditability
β’ Continuous Improvement:
β’ Research and recommend emerging tools, patterns, and technologies that improve data delivery and integration efficiency
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or 10+ years of IT experience in Software Development or Data Engineering roles
β’ 3+ years in a technical leadership role leading data or integration teams
β’ Expertise in SQL and Snowflake (data modeling, SQL optimization, SnowPipe/Streaming, SnowSQL)
β’ Proven experience in MuleSoft API development (Anypoint Studio, API Manager, Runtime Manager)
β’ Hands-on experience with dbt/ADF/ADL for transformation, version control, and data model orchestration
β’ Experience integrating MuleSoft with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
β’ Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and data modeling principles
β’ Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Jenkins, Maven) and automated testing frameworks
β’ Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
β’ Experience working in Agile delivery models and cross-functional enterprise projects
β’ Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams across multiple initiatives
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
β’ Ability to influence and collaborate at all levels
β’ Proactive problem solver with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Certifications in MuleSoft and/or Snowflake
β’ Knowledge of scripting languages (Python preferred) for data manipulation or automation
β’ Experience in the Life Insurance or Financial Services domain
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $160,000 or the hourly equivalent.
