Job Title: Business Data Analyst Location: Uptown Charlotte, NC 28273 (Onsite - 4 days/week) Duration: 6 Months (Possible Extension / Contract-to-Hire) Start Date: Immediate / ASAP Work Type: Contract About The Role We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to join the Enterprise Risk Assessment team, focused on building and enhancing capabilities for enterprise-wide financial crimes risk assessment. This role sits at the intersection of business, risk, and technology, ensuring accurate translation of business requirements into scalable technical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong SQL expertise, data analysis skills, and experience working with large-scale data environments while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into structured, testable documentation (BRDs, user stories in Jira). • Conduct requirement workshops with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams. • Identify, source, and analyze enterprise data to support risk assessment initiatives. • Perform advanced SQL querying on large datasets (Data Warehouse environments). • Validate functional and non-functional requirements including performance, data integrity, and security. • Support design reviews to ensure alignment with risk scoring methodologies and workflow processes. • Develop and execute test strategies (functional, regression, and data validation). • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage defects, and ensure successful resolution. • Maintain traceability of requirements and ensure audit compliance. • Collaborate with development teams throughout the SDLC lifecycle. • Support deployment activities including training, documentation, and user adoption. • Monitor post-production performance and recommend enhancements. Required Qualifications • 4+ years of experience in Business/Data Analysis, Financial Crimes, or Technology Governance. • Strong experience in advanced SQL (SQL Server, Teradata, Hadoop). • Hands-on experience with large-scale data analysis and data warehousing. • Proven experience in writing business and functional requirements. • Experience with Jira for documentation and defect tracking. • Strong understanding of data profiling, validation, and control frameworks. • Experience coordinating testing cycles and UAT. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in Financial Services or Financial Crimes domain. • Familiarity with enterprise risk assessment frameworks. • Knowledge of workflow tools and front-end business applications. • Experience working with automated controls and governance frameworks. • Ability to present insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
