The TradingHub Trade Surveillance Engineer is a key technical expert
responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines that
feed high-volume, complex capital markets data into the TradingHub trade
surveillance platform. The role requires a deep understanding of ETL
processes, financial market data across various asset classes, and regulatory
compliance requirements. The engineer will work closely with compliance
officers, quantitative analysts, and other technology teams to ensure data
accuracy, completeness, and timeliness for effective market abuse

β’ Capital Markets Data Expertise: Apply a deep understanding of
financial markets, including equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives,
to ensure accurate data mapping and transformation.
β’ Data Quality and Governance: Implement a strategic data quality
framework to validate and monitor the completeness and accuracy of
trading data, addressing any issues to prevent false positives in
surveillance alerts.
β’ System Enhancement and Performance Tuning: Collaborate with
technology and business stakeholders to enhance data pipelines and
system performance, introducing automation and advanced analytics
where appropriate.
β’ Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve complex
data-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide technical
support for production systems.
β’ Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with
compliance, trading, risk, and other technology teams to continuously
improve data flows and overall surveillance effectiveness.
β’ Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation
related to data mapping, data lineage, and ETL processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
β’ Experience: Proven experience in a data engineering or ETL
development role, preferably within a financial services or capital
markets environment.
β’ Capital Markets Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial
instruments, market data concepts, and capital markets trading
practices.
β’ ETL Expertise: Hands-on experience with designing, implementing,
and optimizing complex ETL processes for large-scale data sets.
β’ Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages
like Python or C# is essential.
β’ Database and Big Data: Experience with databases (e.g., SQL
Server, Oracle) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is
highly desirable.
β’ Surveillance Systems: Familiarity with trade surveillance systems
and platforms like TradingHub, Actimize, or SMARTS is a significant
advantage.
β’ Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving
skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve complex data and
production issues.
β’ Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to
articulate technical concepts and findings to a range of stakeholders.
