Role description
Main Tasks and responsibilities: β€’ Assist the procurement team in tendering, benchmarking, contract negotiation and annual review of carriers (air, sea, road, courier) and customs brokers across the UK. β€’ Define and continuously monitor KPIs: port-to-warehouse and last-mile lead-time, damage rate, on-time pick-up, customs release time, freight cost; submit weekly dashboards to the Warehouse Manager. β€’ Act as first responder for transit delays, cargo damage, customs holds or documentation gaps; initiate contingency plans and provide solutions in a timely mannner. β€’ Use TMS,BI tools and cost-service models to optimise current air, sea, road and multimodal routes; deliver quarterly savings proposals and risk assessments. β€’ Design 6–12-month forward transportation routes based on business growth, new-model launches, tariff changes and import/export regulations. β€’ Ensure all import/export declarations comply with UK HMRC, EU CDS, IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements; obtain and keep HS-code reviews, certificates of origin, EUR.1, AEO accreditation etc,. β€’ Maintain daily/weekly alignment with Purchasing, Planning, Warehouse, Finance, Customer Service and OEM customers to synchronise forecasts, inventory, ASN, claims and invoicing. Ideal candidate profile: β€’ 2+ years experience of international logistics / freight forwarding / carrier management; proven expertise in UK-EU import/export, Incoterms 2020 and customs updates. β€’ Bachelor’s or above in Logistics, International Trade, Supply-Chain or related; CILT(UK) Level 3, IATA FIATA or equivalent preferred. β€’ Proficient in TMS, SAP TM/LE, Excel Power Query, Power BI; SQL/Python for data extraction & visualisation is a plus. β€’ Deep knowledge of UK customs tariff, CDS, T1/T2 procedures, AEO/FAST-PLUS; familiar with ADR dangerous-goods regulations. β€’ Fluent English (written & spoken, C1+); Chinese or other European languages advantageous. β€’ Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills; PRINCE2 / PMP certification desirable. β€’ Data-driven, resilient, willing to work overtime during peak and occasional night shifts.
