Title: Cognos Administrator Location: Pittsburgh,PAJob Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cognos Administrator to manage and support our IBM Cognos Analytics platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, tuning, security, and maintenance of the Cognos environment to ensure optimal performance and availability for business users.
Key Responsibilities:
· Install, configure, and upgrade Cognos BI and Analytics environments (including Cognos Analytics, Framework Manager, and Transformer).
· Monitor Cognos server performance, logs, and services to ensure system uptime and availability.
· Manage security, including user authentication, access permissions, roles, and data-level security via LDAP or Active Directory.
· Create and maintain deployment and migration strategies for reports and models across environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Cognos reports, dashboards, and system errors.
· Collaborate with BI developers, DBAs, and business stakeholders to support reporting and data delivery needs.
· Schedule and automate reports using Cognos scheduling and bursting features.
· Maintain documentation for configuration, processes, and procedures.
· Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
· 3+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM Cognos Analytics.
· Strong knowledge of Cognos architecture and components (Dispatcher, Gateway, Content Store).
· Experience with performance tuning and optimization of Cognos reports and server environment.
· Proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
· Experience with LDAP/AD integration for user and group management.
· Familiarity with Cognos SDK and scripting for automation (PowerShell, Shell, or Python is a plus).
