The Office of the CIO (OCIO) of a major government agency requires contractor support to assist technical staff in understanding the technical dependencies, potential challenges and costs associated with separating a large portion of its IT services into an independent entity.
IT services are defined as the IT systems (applications), data, and hardware that support the agency. This includes IT services housed at the agency's facilities, data centers, and in the cloud, to include SaaS.Β The assessment will include more than 25 applications.
Note{{:}} This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not a W-2 employee position. Contractors are engaged for specific projects or deliverables and are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.
Responsibilities
Evaluates existing virtualization and cloud service utilization, designing high-level architectures for logical versus physical separation alternatives. This engineer identifies opportunities for cloud enablement (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) within the separation scenarios and estimates licensing, hosting, and support costs for the various options. The role also ensures all recommendations align with applicable security and compliance considerations.
Requirements
β’ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
β’ At least 7 years experience in business process analysis with in-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
β’ Experience designing architectures for logical vs. physical separation scenarios.
β’ Ability to identify cloud enablement opportunities and accurately estimate licensing, hosting, and support costs.
β’ Strong understanding of federal security and compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST).
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience in business process analysis for federal government agencies.
