Web Analytics Specialist
Hybrid 1 day/week in Charlotte
Summary
We are seeking a Web Analytics Specialist who can serve as a full-stack analytics expert, owning everything from tagging and tracking to analysis and reporting. This role requires hands-on expertise in Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4), with the ability to independently troubleshoot, implement, and optimize analytics solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, a deep understanding of web analytics concepts, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights for marketing and product teams.
Responsibilities
β’ Manage and respond to incoming analytics requests, investigating issues and providing clear recommendations.
β’ Conduct standard analyses, including traffic trends, conversion funnels, attribution modeling, and user behavior patterns.
β’ Configure, test, and troubleshoot Google Tag Manager, including tags, triggers, variables, and custom implementations.
β’ Maintain and optimize GA4 properties, including custom dimensions, metrics, event parameters, conversions, and cross-domain tracking.
β’ Design and manage UTM and campaign tracking frameworks; handle referral exclusions, cookie behavior, and session tracking.
β’ Build, customize, and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations in GA4 Explore, Looker Studio, or similar platforms.
β’ Use debugging tools (DebugView, GTM Preview, Chrome DevTools) to ensure accurate data capture and reporting.
β’ Collaborate with developers to design and maintain robust data layer structures.
β’ Apply working knowledge of JavaScript for custom tags, variables, and advanced GTM implementations.
β’ Present findings and insights to stakeholders in clear, actionable formats.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Marketing, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
β’ 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager.
β’ Expert-level GTM knowledge, including debugging and troubleshooting.
β’ Strong knowledge of key web analytics concepts: cross-domain tracking, UTMs, cookies, referral handling, and attribution.
β’ Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools (Looker Studio, GA4 Explore, or similar).
β’ Experience with debugging tools such as Chrome DevTools, GTM Preview, and DebugView.
β’ Working knowledge of JavaScript for analytics implementations.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
