Role description
Information about This Engagement: This is a hybrid contract role. W2 candidates are preferred; however, we are open to engaging subcontractors with local resources who are physically located in St Paul, MN and able to work onsite at the client’s location. Engagement Type: 12 month contract. Work Environment Hybrid; primarily remote, occasional onsite and primarily collaboration through virtual platforms. Expect the first weeks (1-2) to be onsite for onboarding, after onboarding, expect to be onsite 1x per week. About the Opportunity VALERE’s Client is seeking an experienced Applications Technical Assessment Lead to plan, facilitate, and deliver a comprehensive inventory of technologies used across a portfolio of 500+ business applications (custom-built and commercial) hosted on servers, workstations, and cloud environments. The outcome of this engagement will drive future modernization and standardization efforts across the enterprise application landscape. Why You’ll Love This Role • Lead high-visibility assessment initiatives with executive-level visibility • Influence the modernization roadmap for a complex, high-impact application portfolio • Engage in your work with diverse cross-functional stakeholders What You’ll Do • Develop and execute a technical assessment plan with detailed schedules, work breakdowns, risk strategies, and progress tracking • Conduct deep technical assessments across all applications, identifying development tools, languages, frameworks, components, integrations, and versioning • Regularly report findings and progress to senior IT leadership through executive summaries and detailed technical documentation • Collaborate with technical staff, business partners, and leadership to ensure completeness and accuracy of inventory data • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal staff as needed What You Bring (Required Skills) • 7+ years in progressive technical roles, including experience with assessment planning and execution • Deep understanding of application architecture, dev languages, frameworks, components, and infrastructure • Technical proficiency in object-oriented programming (Java, .NET, C#), SQL querying, and tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Visual Studio • Hands-on experience with web technologies and integrations (JavaScript, jQuery, XML, JSON, REST, SOAP, HTML, CSS, PHP, Python, SQL Server) • Proven experience independently leading at least two full-cycle enterprise-level technical assessment engagements, ideally across large portfolios of applications • Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and gather technical data across various platforms • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics in plain language • Experience planning and managing assessments using Agile methodologies Expectations in Professional Experiences with Accountability & Outcomes: • Held accountable for lead roles on at least two engagements, involving reporting directly to senior leadership, conducting planning, execution, and final delivery of accurate, validated technical inventories • Demonstrated ability to produce actionable deliverables supporting data-driven decisions for modernization and technology investments • Recognized for adaptability, mentoring, and applying the right frameworks to match client maturity and environment Pay Rate: This is a contract role with an hourly rate range of $80–$90: Your specific rate will depend on your qualifications, education, certifications, location, and how well your experience aligns with the client's requirements.
