Summary Job Summary (Azure SQL Database Engineer – Buffalo, NY – Hybrid) • Location Requirement: Must reside and work in Buffalo, NY (or Rochester, NY with willingness to commute); no relocation offered. • Experience Required: Minimum 10+ years in IT with expert-level proficiency in Azure and recent banking industry experience. • Technical Focus: Deep expertise in Azure SQL Database (AWS experience not applicable). • Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain Azure SQL Databases for supporting middleware and application needs. • Collaborate with Java middleware developers to optimize database integration, queries, and schema design. • Monitor and tune database performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks. • Implement and manage database security measures, including user permissions, role-based access, encryption (TDE), and network security. • Plan and execute backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies. • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, performance, and data corruption issues. • Automate database management and administrative tasks using Azure tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell). • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards. • Essential Skills: • Advanced hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and T-SQL. • Strong knowledge of database security features (TDE, Azure AD Authentication), backup/restore, and performance tuning. • Understanding of Azure Networking, Managed Identities, and Azure Monitor. • Solid relational database design and data modeling skills. • Effective collaboration and problem-solving abilities, especially with development teams. • Interview Process: 2-3 rounds of technical interviews.
