This role will focus on: -
β’ Migrating TFS 2015 (TFVC and Git) to Azure Repos
β’ Migrating JIRA 7.x to Azure Boards
β’ Transforming and modernizing TeamCity build pipelines to Azure DevOps YAML Pipelines
β’ The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with third-party tools such as OpsHub, Solidify, or equivalent for complex, history-preserving migrations, combined with deep Azure DevOps expertise.
Responsibilities: -
β’ Lead end-to-end migration strategy and execution from TFS 2015 to Azure DevOps Repos with full history retention and branch mapping.
β’ Manage JIRA 7.x to Azure Boards migration, including workflows, issue types, fields, custom rules, and sprint data, ensuring minimal downtime.
β’ Transform and re-implement TeamCity CI/CD pipelines into Azure DevOps pipelines, following YAML best practices.
β’ Design and implement DevOps governance policies: permissions, audit logging, branching policies, pipeline approvals, etc.
β’ Work with cross-functional teams to align Agile processes and ensure tooling integration with Azure Boards and Git.
β’ Automate post-migration validation, CI/CD testing, and regression checks for pipeline and source control correctness.
β’ Provide architectural guidance for Azure DevOps adoption across multiple product teams.
β’ Conduct knowledge transfer, documentation, and training for developers, testers, and project managers.
Mandatory Skills
β’ Deep knowledge of Azure & AWS Networking (VPC, VNETs, Subnets, NSGs, UDRs, Private Endpoints, DNS Zones, Storage, Key Vaults).
β’ 5+ years of experience in Devops & Infrastructure Automation.
β’ Good understanding of TFS & Jira architecture and Migration steps to Azure Devops.
β’ Deep hands-on experience with TFVC & Git repository migration, including full commit history and branch topology preservation
β’ Strong Git knowledge and history-preserving repository management
β’ Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, sprint planning, boards, and metrics
β’ Expertise in migrating Jira Epics, Stories, Bugs, Custom Fields, States, and Workflows
β’ Experience in converting build definitions from TeamCity to YAML-based Azure DevOps Pipelines
β’ Experience with Building Azure DevOps Pipelines for Build and Deployment automation.
β’ Strong grounding in CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code, and release pipeline design
β’ Scripting Skills: Strong scripting (eg: PowerShell, Bash, YAML, REST APIs) for Azure DevOps / JIRA and automation skills.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
β’ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Strong leadership skills, decision making and problem-solving abilities
β’ Experience working with stakeholders, driving migration workshops, and leading cross-functional teams
β’ Ability to implement RBAC, security policies, and tagging strategies as needed.
β’ Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing Azure /AWS production system,
β’ Build, release, and configuration management of production systems
β’ Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
β’ Monitoring Tools: Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios).
β’ Problem Solving: Ability to analyse and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues
Good to have skills: -
β’ Proficiency with OpsHub OMT, Solidify Migration Tool, git-tfs, or custom migration scripting
β’ AWS/Azure / Terraform Certification
β’ Experience with Azure Artifacts and internal NuGet feed management
β’ Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or other observability tools
β’ Experience with TeamCity, Jenkins, Helix ALM or legacy build systems
β’ Working knowledge of Work Item Rule Customization, Extensions, and Azure DevOps API scripting
β’ Exposure to large-scale enterprise migrations with parallel execution, rollback strategies, and cutover planning
β’ Familiarity with Atlassian API, JIRA SDK, and custom field schema mapping
