Role description
Project Overview
This is a Business Analyst role within a large, complex local government organization. The position is part of an Information Technology Department initiative to implement a large-scale software application for law enforcement. The Business Analyst will work closely with software developers, project managers, and vendor teams on a system implementation for the Sheriff's Office. Responsibilities include business analysis, documentation, and collaboration across stakeholders to support the execution of a vendor-based software package.
Key Responsibilities General Duties
β’ Work with stakeholders and vendors to understand business processes and define requirements.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the full software implementation lifecycle.
β’ Assist with change management, impact assessments, and end-user support during system transitions.
Specific Tasks
β’ Develop as-is and to-be process diagrams and maintain traceability matrices.
β’ Manage tasks using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
β’ Assist in preparing training materials and supporting user training.
β’ Translate business needs into user stories and technical documentation.
β’ Conduct workshops, interviews, and collaborative sessions to design solutions.
β’ Coordinate testing activities, including planning, execution, and defect resolution.
β’ Provide regular updates, status reports, and presentations to stakeholders.
β’ Evaluate system performance post-implementation and propose improvements.
β’ Identify and escalate business analysis risks and issues to ensure resolution.
Required Experience and Skills
β’ 7+ years of experience in business analysis, with a track record of delivering complex IT software projects in large organizations.
β’ Experience managing end-to-end software implementations from requirements through support.
β’ Strong collaboration skills with stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds.
β’ Hands-on experience with documentation such as diagrams, use cases, and requirement specifications.
β’ Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Teams, SharePoint, and Azure DevOps.
β’ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Minimum Education and Certifications
β’ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
β’ Seven years of experience in business analysis, software implementation, and agile methodologies are required.
β’ Equivalent work experience in software development, analysis, or implementation may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis.
Work Environment
β’ Work will be conducted in collaboration with internal departments, IT teams, and vendors.
β’ May involve a hybrid environment with on-site requirements during key project phases.
β’ Effective written and verbal communication with all stakeholders is essential.
