Short Description:
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst with expertise in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Revenue Cycle Financial Systems. The selected candidate will play a key role in requirements gathering, business process mapping, system design, testing, and implementation of health IT solutions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and Virginia SEC 501 standards.
Responsibilities:
β’ Lead EHR data collection, design, and implementation initiatives.
β’ Collaborate with SMEs, vendors, and project teams to gather and validate requirements.
β’ Map business processes, workflows, and ensure alignment with system functionality.
β’ Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and project documentation.
β’ Support testing, training, go-live, and post-implementation activities.
β’ Ensure compliance with HIPAA and Virginia SEC 501 standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ 7+ years Business Analysis β requirements gathering, SDLC, QA, documentation.
β’ 7+ years Project Management experience (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile).
β’ 5+ years Healthcare IT / Financial / Clinical systems experience.
β’ 3+ years Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems β Cerner Millennium / Oracle Health preferred.
β’ Strong knowledge of SQL, Revenue Cycle (billing/claims), and Patient Accounting.
Nice to Have:
β’ Familiarity with Virginia SEC 501 & HIPAA compliance requirements.
β’ Hands-on experience with SQL, Java, or Cerner Command Language (CCL).
β’ Knowledge of clinically driven revenue cycle practices.
