Role description
Business Intelligence Analyst
6 months FTC
Location: Swindon, Hybrid working
With a rich heritage and a new name, TGJones is the fresh face of a much-loved and trusted British brand. Our roots lie in TGJones, where we’ve proudly supported the high street retail estate for generations. Now, under the ownership of specialist retail investors, Modella Capital, we’re entering an exciting new chapter with bold ambitions to become ‘Your Hub of the High Street’.
About the role
Following the sale of the High Street business to Modella and our exciting rebrand to TGJones, we're entering a new chapter - one built on growth, agility, and data-driven decision-making.
As we operate under a Transitional Services Agreement (TSA), we’re working closely with WHSmith to set TGJones up for long-term success. To support this critical period, we’re looking to recruit two Business Intelligence Analysts to help drive a smooth and efficient transition.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where your insights and analysis will directly impact how we build our future. You'll play a key part in ensuring all systems, reporting, and decision-support tools are fully in place by the end of the TSA.
• Plan, design and implement effective dashboards and visualisations as the business transitions to a more automated reporting approach
• Taking on the role of a superuser and becoming a key contact for the wider business to create ad-hoc reports and analysis, while continually improving the quality of data insight in existing reports
• Working closely with the trading teams to provide ad-hoc analysis, such as insight into trials, promotional changes and detailed variance analysis, all presented in a clear and understandable manner
• Developing the weekly Trading Pack, supporting ad-hoc requests and iteration of the pack to meet business needs
• Developing and maintaining an interactive portal for 3rd parties to access TGJones commercial data, delivering income for the business
• Providing ad hoc support business teams on analysis, forecasting and format development
• Ideate and build analytical products using appropriate mathematical and statistical rigour
• Managing technical and non-technical stakeholders and end-users, owning the end-to-end delivery of BI products
About you
• Strong analytical background with experience using SQL
• You will have experience creating reports and analytics in a reporting tool, such as Power BI or similar
• You are curious and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills
• Confident communicator with the ability to articulate and influence the output of your analysis and challenge both the approach and results where necessary
• Proactive self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced and changing environment with an eye for detail
• Great stakeholder management
• Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills
