Business Intelligence Developer
Contract until 31 March 2027 | East Midlands | Hybrid Working | Inside IR35
Rate: Negotiable Dependent on Experience
Data Careers is supporting a secure public sector organisation in the East Midlands in the search for a Business Intelligence Developer.
This is an opportunity to join a growing data function and play a key role in delivering reporting, dashboards and insight that support operational performance, strategic planning and data-driven decision-making.
Working within a modern Microsoft Fabric environment, you'll help develop reporting capabilities that support both local business requirements and national policing performance frameworks.
Security & Eligibility
Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must:
• Be UK-based.
• Have continuously resided in the UK for a minimum of five years.
• Be eligible to obtain NPPV3 and SC clearance.
• Existing police vetting, NPPV3 and/or SC clearance would be highly advantageous.
The Role
You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to gather reporting requirements, design effective data visualisations and deliver reporting solutions that provide meaningful operational and strategic insight.
Working alongside Data Engineers and Architects, you will contribute to the development of a scalable and sustainable reporting capability built around Microsoft Fabric and Power BI technologies.
Hybrid working is available, with attendance in Lincolnshire typically expected around one day per week, although flexibility is available depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets.
• Build and optimise semantic models and reporting solutions.
• Work with data held within Microsoft Fabric environments.
• Gather and document business reporting requirements.
• Produce data visualisations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Support reporting aligned to national policing measures and frameworks.
• Maintain technical documentation and reporting standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of BI services and reporting capabilities.
Essential Experience
• Power BI development.
• Dashboard and reporting development.
• Data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques.
• SQL Server, Oracle or similar database technologies.
• Requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience translating business requirements into effective reporting solutions.
Desirable Experience
• Microsoft Fabric.
• Azure DevOps.
• Data warehouse design.
• Public sector or policing experience.
• Understanding of performance reporting frameworks.
