Position Title:
FRACTIONAL CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
Reporting Relationships:
Direct Manager: MANAGING PARTNER
Strategic Responsibility:
The fCMO will serve as the lead engagement executive responsible for developing and implementing the strategic marketing transformation for a designated client. The fCMO will join the management and leadership team within the client’s organization and oversee the outlined workstreams associated with our 4-step marketing transformation process, as outlined in the signed proposal and contract. These four steps include 1) marketing audit and assessment; 2) development of the business and go-to-market strategy; 3) creation and implementation of initiatives and tactics; and 4) assessment and optimization of marketing performance.
The fCMO will need to flex their management, oversight, and executional talents between the client’s organization, use of outsourced resources (agencies and freelancers), and his/her own skills and talents to affect the necessary results desired within the timeline of the engagement. Client success ultimately depends on the fCMO’s ability to find and implement quick wins from day one while transforming the marketing function for long-term sustainable growth, across the timeline of the engagement.
Comprehensive training and coaching on our proven transformation model will be provided.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Master's degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
• 20+ years of experience in marketing, attaining a minimum position of Vice President, ideally CMO, with a minimum of 5 years leading the marketing organization within an organization.
• Experience leading marketing for law firms, companies that provide services to law firms, and/or consumer-focused professional services companies with a demonstrated track record of driving growth.
• Experience with demonstrated success in strategic growth planning, branding strategy and execution, digital marketing, agency management, and organization and team building.
• Proven ability to both lead at the strategic level and roll up your sleeves to execute and/or direct others with great confidence in their execution.
• Demonstrated executive presence working with C-Suite executives, boards, and leadership teams.
• A proven, trusted, and motivating leader of teams.
Required Skills:
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and expertise in identifying and developing strategic approaches to growth and marketing planning, including competitive and landscape analysis, business growth planning, marketing growth contribution, and development of a documented go-to-market strategy
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to analyze performance and drive optimization through the use of Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, SEMrush, the Google Business Profile, and other tools.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to:
1.) Lead the development of consumer insights and how to leverage them to optimize and differentiate the brand and drive connection with target consumers.
2.) Lead brand positioning and differentiation by leveraging consumer insights.
3.) Lead digital marketing strategies and executions, tactics, and tools, including paid search, social media, Connected TV, and other relevant channels.
4.) Lead SEO strategy, keyword strategies, Google Business Profile optimization, and content strategies that can be used to engage consumers online. An understanding of generative engine optimization is a plus.
5.) Lead the build and optimization of websites using best practices.
6.) Build the right data visualization dashboards to deliver performance reporting and drive effective decision making
• Demonstrated ability to select, vet, onboard, and direct agencies to deliver business growth.
• Demonstrated ability to streamline processes like lead intake and qualification.
• Demonstrated executive presence and executive functioning & communication skills. Ability to hold your own in front of managing partners, CEOs, and challenging leadership team members. A proven track record of lobbying for change within an organization. Proactive and effective written and verbal communication skills with C-Suite executives. Demonstrated ability to document strategies, processes, recommendations, and plans.
