Role description
ALTA IT has a Contract to Hire position open for a Cloud Engineer. TS/SCI Springfield, VA Minimum of a Security+ Certification We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing robust, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions. This role requires deep technical knowledge in cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), automation tools, and best practices in cloud architecture. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and services. • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud systems for performance, cost, and reliability. • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices in cloud environments. • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing workflows and systems. • Automate deployment processes and system configurations to support CI/CD pipelines. • Maintain documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and standard operating procedures. • Support disaster recovery planning, backups, and incident response in the cloud environment. • Stay up to date on emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential for use in our systems. Required: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or a related role. • Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration. • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell). • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). • Understanding of cloud security, networking, and identity management. #M2 Ref: #850-Rockville (ALTA IT)
