Experienced & hands-on L3 resources as Cloud Engineers for Infra migration in AWS
JD for Cloud Engineer (L3):
β’ Lead validation of all pre-work to ensure infrastructure, networking, and application readiness for AWS GovCloud migration.
β’ Review and validate landing zone configurations, security posture, network connectivity, IAM roles, and tagging standards.
β’ Identify risks and gaps in the current environment; provide technical leadership on remediation efforts.
β’ Collaborate with application teams to assess dependencies and readiness.
β’ Own the migration process, including planning, scheduling, and hands-on execution (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or hybrid strategies).
β’ Utilize AWS-native and third-party migration tools (e.g., CloudEndure, AWS Migration Hub, DMS, Snowball).
β’ Ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and security compliance during all migration phases.
β’ Facilitate Go/No-Go meetings with stakeholders, assess criteria for cutover, and secure executive sign-off.
β’ Implement and manage rollback or failback procedures as needed, ensuring business continuity and system integrity.
β’ Conduct post-migration cleanup activities, including decommissioning of legacy systems and artifacts.
β’ Lead the hypercare phase with a focus on performance tuning, incident response, and proactive issue resolution.
β’ Monitor system performance and application health using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party monitoring tools.
β’ Serve as a point of escalation for critical issues; ensure all documentation and runbooks are up to date.
Required Qualifications:
β’ 10+ years of overall IT experience with a focus on infrastructure, cloud engineering, and system migrations.
β’ Must have hands-on experience with AWS, including working in AWS GovCloud (US).
β’ Proven success in leading end-to-end cloud migration projects, preferably in federal or highly regulated environments.
β’ Strong knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, RDS, CloudWatch, etc.).
β’ Deep understanding of compliance requirements: FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, and ITAR.
β’ Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, PowerShell).
β’ Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to coordinate across multiple technical and non-technical teams.
β’ AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect β Professional, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty).
β’ Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
β’ Familiarity with container platforms (ECS, EKS, Docker, etc.) and serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, etc.).
