Role description
Job Title: Data Analyst – Azure Databricks Location: Triangle Area, NC (Hybrid | up to 3 days per week) Type: Contract About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst with strong expertise in Azure Databricks to support the creation of advanced data aggregations, dashboards, and reports. This role will involve close collaboration with technical leads, data engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and data solutions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark), strong SQL/Python skills, and a solid background in data visualization using Power BI and Databricks’ native tools. Key Responsibilities • Conduct end-to-end data analysis, create data mappings, and ensure accuracy, quality, and integrity of datasets. • Develop and optimize queries using Spark SQL within Databricks to process and analyze large datasets. • Collaborate with data engineers to design and deliver scalable, high-quality data products. • Build Gold-layer data products to support dashboards, APIs, and UI tools. • Design and develop intuitive dashboards and reports in Power BI and Databricks’ visualization tools. • Create and maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, models, mappings, and dashboards. • Apply advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques to identify trends and generate actionable insights. • Support predictive modeling and algorithm development for business-specific challenges. • Contribute to requirements gathering, change management documentation, and planning sessions with the development team. Required Skills & Experience • 3+ years hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure Databricks in enterprise environments. • 3+ years of experience with SQL and Python for data transformation, queries, and dashboards. • 3+ years of experience in data modeling (dimensional modeling, ER modeling, normalization/denormalization, Data Vault). • 3+ years of experience applying data science concepts including statistical learning and machine learning algorithms. • 5+ years of demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams and translating business needs into technical solutions. Preferred Qualifications • Databricks Data Analyst Associate Certification Additional Details • Candidate must be local to the Triangle region of NC. • Onsite presence required on Day 1 to collect equipment. • May require up to 3 days onsite per week for meetings and collaboration.
