Data Analyst
β’ Location: Local to Milwaukee, WI strongly preferred
β’ Schedule: Hybrid schedule (M-W in office)
β’ Duration: 5+ months contract, with possibility of an extension
As a Data Analyst at Northwestern Mutual, you will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across the enterprise. You will work closely with various business units to develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analyses that support marketing, digital products, and other key stakeholders. Your expertise in data visualization and query writing will help ensure data accuracy and accessibility, enabling teams to make informed decisions.
In this role you will:
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand data requirements, translating them into effective reporting and analytical solutions.
β’ Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports that provide clear, insightful visualizations for business partners.
β’ Write and optimize SQL queries within Databricks to extract, transform, and load data necessary for analysis and reporting.
β’ Analyze quantitative data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities, delivering actionable insights to stakeholders.
β’ Document dashboards, data sources, and analytical processes to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
β’ Communicate findings clearly through written reports and presentations, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
β’ Support data governance and quality initiatives by validating data accuracy and consistency.
β’ Collaborate within a team environment, participating in regular meetings and knowledge sharing to continuously improve analytics capabilities.
β’ Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and business needs.
What You Need to Stand Out
β’ 2+ years of experience in data analysis, with strong proficiency in Power BI development and SQL query writing.
β’ Familiarity with Databricks or similar unified data platforms is highly desirable.
β’ Experience creating clear, detailed dashboard and data documentation.
β’ Strong skills in data visualization and storytelling to effectively communicate insights.
β’ Ability to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable business insights.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across teams.
β’ Comfortable working in a fast-paced, meeting-heavy environment with a focus on teamwork.
β’ Basic knowledge of Python is a plus but not required.
