Data Engineer (5-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Overview:
Our client is seeking a technically strong Data Engineer to support the Data & Business Intelligence team over a five-month fixed-term engagement. The role involves working in an agile team to build data integrations, improve data processes, and deliver insights to enhance organisational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design and develop data feeds and related applications within an agile scrum team
β’ Write, test, and peer-review ETL code using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
β’ Collaborate with business users to design self-serve environments within Snowflake data lake
β’ Analyse, develop, and manage business intelligence (BI) reports
β’ Contribute to data process design including quality assurance, reconciliation, testing, and governance
β’ Participate in process improvement initiatives
β’ Release software through multiple environments, including production support
β’ Engage in task prioritisation and effort estimation
Candidate Profile:
β’ Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
β’ Strong customer focus and collaborative approach
β’ High-level analytical and problem-solving ability
β’ Well-organised with effective time management
β’ Able to operate independently and within a team
β’ Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
β’ Open to learning new skills and participating in on-call support rotations
Minimum Criteria:
β’ Experience building data warehouses using ETL/ELT tools, preferably Oracle ODI
β’ Proficient in Snowflake or Oracle databases
β’ Solid understanding of star schema/dimensional modelling
β’ Advanced SQL skills
β’ Familiarity with data formats such as XML, JSON, and CSV
β’ Proven track record in BI solution delivery
β’ Experience in Agile development environments
β’ Previous work in cloud platforms
Desirable:
β’ Experience with Oracle ODI / Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
β’ Knowledge of AWS tools such as Terraform, Lambda, Step Functions, and S3
β’ Familiarity with Python and machine learning concepts
β’ Experience with customer or vehicle data
Team Environment:
You will be part of a small agile sub-team within the wider data organisation, collaborating with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions across customer interaction domains.
