Data Engineer - Financial Services (Contract)
• Day Rate: £425 per day (Outside IR35)
• Location: Remote first (UK-based candidates only)
• Contract: 6-month rolling (long-term project - several years)
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong experience in asset management, investments, or reinsurance to join a consulting team on a long-term engagement. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data projects within the financial services sector, leveraging modern tools and cloud platforms to solve complex data challenges.
This is an immediate requirement with a streamlined interview process - an initial 20-30 minute CV and experience discussion, followed by a 1-hour technical interview including a coding test.
Responsibilities
• Perform complex data manipulation and analysis to support senior business experts and stakeholders.
• Develop solutions using Python and associated libraries (Pandas, NumPy) to process and automate large datasets.
• Write efficient SQL queries to extract, transform, and manage financial data.
• Work with BigQuery/GCP for large-scale data projects.
• Collaborate with expert teams to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Domain expertise: Recent experience (within the last 2 years) in asset management, investments, or reinsurance.
• Python: Strong experience with core data libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
• SQL: Excellent querying and data manipulation skills.
• Cloud: Exposure to GCP/BigQuery.
• Education: Degree in investments, accounting, actuarial science, or a related field from a UK-based university.
Nice-to-Haves
• Familiarity with tools such as dbt and Databricks.
• Experience on investment-related projects or within reinsurance/life insurance domains.
