Role description
Data Platform & Visualization Engineer @Los Altos, CA
β’
β’ Must be local and open to 2days onsite (Only Locals)
β’
β’ Must be open to W2/1099 contracts- NO C2C
Important Skills:
Python-focused data platform engineer with experience building reliable ingestion pipelines, SQL-backed metrics systems, backend APIs, and web-based dashboards for ML and experimentation workflows in AWS environments.
β’ The company collects a lot of data on a monthly trip and potentially from simulations.
β’ Currently, they are not handling much of it.
β’ The main target is that their monthly trip collects a large amount of vehicle data.
β’ Previously, it used to be mostly just vehicle numbers.
β’ They are starting to add a lot of camera and LIDAR data, which means that
the scale of the data is getting larger.
β’ Looking for someone junior to help with the existing ingestor system that ingests the
data and uploads it to S3.
β’ Bandwidth is very limited (100 Mbps) because they go to a remote location, and
they are trying to upload 500 GB of data per night.
β’ They want some sort of orchestration logic for sequencing and prioritizing certain
steps.
β’ Once the data is up there, they are looking for someone with front-end experience to
navigate, filter, and create metadata.
β’ This will require some back-end experience as well to handle the data.
Nice to have: experience with ML experiment tracking, data provenance systems, workflow orchestration frameworks, advanced data visualization, LLM-based automation, and cloud-deployed Python services.
YOE:
3β5 years of professional experience in software or data engineering roles would be reasonable.
Strong candidates with 2+ years but highly relevant projects (pipelines, dashboards, AWS, Python) could also be considered.
Nice-to-haves: ML experiment tracking, LLM-based automation, data lineage β typically seen in candidates with 2β5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or full-stack data platforms.
Notes:
Impactful Work: Youβll build and maintain systems that support cutting-edge research, scientific computing, and platform engineering initiatives, making a real difference in the organization.
Collaborative Culture: Work closely with talented engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional teams in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Professional Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning, exposure to modern technologies (Python, FastAPI, Terraform, AWS), and mentorship from senior leaders.
Innovation-Driven: The company encourages creative problem-solving, experimentation, and contributing ideas that influence products and infrastructure.
Hybrid Flexibility: A mix of onsite and remote work (2 days in Los Altos), promoting work-life balance while maintaining team collaboration.
Stability & Longevity: Employees appreciate the companyβs commitment to growth, career development, and a culture of recognition and retention.
Strong Values & Vision: People stay because of the organizationβs mission-driven work, commitment to high-quality engineering, and investment in employeesβ long-term success
5-10 on team
