Role Description This role involves deep data analysis, transformation, and integration work, requiring both technical expertise and problem-solving creativity. The ideal candidate will be proficient in C#, have a working understanding of VB, and be comfortable using Python scripting for efficient data translation. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Proficiency in C# with the ability to write clean, maintainable code. • Working knowledge of VB to understand and interpret legacy application logic. • Strong experience with Python scripting for data manipulation and automation. • Solid understanding of SQL and relational database design. • Ability to analyze unfamiliar codebases and data structures. • Experience with ETL processes and data conversion best practices. • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Key Responsibilities: • Legacy Data Migration: • Analyze and interpret complex legacy data structures from a VB application. • Migrate data into a new legacy database system, adapting schemas as needed. • Expand or contract data models to ensure compatibility and integrity. • Data Analysis and Mapping: • Understand and document the structure and semantics of both source and target databases. • Develop data mapping strategies that account for non-1:1 relationships. • Programming and Scripting: • Write and maintain scripts in Python for data transformation and automation. • Develop supporting tools and utilities in C# to facilitate migration. • Interpret and work with VB code to extract business logic and data rules. • Testing and Validation: • Validate data integrity post-migration through rigorous testing and debugging. • Collaborate with QA and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Collaboration and Communication: • Work closely with analysts, DBAs, and stakeholders to gather requirements and clarify data meanings. • Participate in regular project meetings and provide status updates. • Documentation and Support: • Document data mappings, transformation logic, and migration processes. • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting during and after migration.
