Data Engineer
6-12 Month CTH
Hybrid (4 days a week onsite)

Our telecommunication client is seeking a Data Engineer with a strong ETL background and proven people management experience. This individual will lead and oversee a team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL workflows primarily using Apache NiFi and AWS-based solutions (PySpark, EMR, SQL). This engineer will also play a key role in project planning, stakeholder communication, and ensuring successful delivery of data integration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Lead and manage a team of ETL developers supporting Apache NiFi and AWS ETL workloads.
β’ Oversee the design, development, and optimization of ETL pipelines (NiFi, PySpark, SQL, AWS EMR).
β’ Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
β’ Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
β’ Manage workload distribution, sprint planning, and resource allocation.
β’ Ensure operational excellence, monitoring, and SLA adherence for ETL processes.
β’ Support project management activities, including status reporting and risk management.
β’ Drive continuous improvement in development practices, automation, and performance optimization
Required Skills & Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in computer science or MBA (or equivalent relevant experience).
β’ 3+ years of professional experience in ETL/Data Engineering roles.
β’ 1+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
β’ Hands-on experience with design, deployment, performance tuning, error handling of ETL jobs.
β’ Some experience with AWS ecosystem β PySpark, SQL, and EMR.
β’ Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational and distributed databases.
β’ Demonstrated experience with project management and delivery oversight.
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
β’ Experience with cable billing systems such as CSG or ICOMS
β’ Familiarity with data lakehouse technologies (Iceberg, Delta, etc.).
β’ Exposure to other ETL/data tools (Informatica, Talend, Spark-based ETL)
