Data Engineer (Power BI)

Role: Data Engineer (Power BI) Location: Whippany NJ Type: Contract We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong experience in data pipelines, ETL processes, and Power BI to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions. The role involves working closely with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data models and dashboards. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data • Build and optimize data warehouses and data lakes • Develop Power BI dashboards and reports for business insights • Create efficient data models (star/snowflake schema) for reporting • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across systems • Integrate data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, cloud services) • Optimize query performance using SQL and indexing techniques • Collaborate with data analysts, business teams, and stakeholders • Automate data workflows and reporting processes Required Skills & Qualifications • Strong experience with SQL and database systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) • Hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling) • Experience in ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Talend, Informatica, etc.) • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts • Programming experience in Python or Spark • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP • Understanding of data governance and security practices Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Azure Synapse / Databricks • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) • Experience in CI/CD pipelines for data workflows • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Power BI, Azure Data Engineer)
