Role description
Location: On-site – Iselin, New Jersey We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in SQL, SSIS, and data warehousing to join our IT team. This role will focus on building, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise data solutions that support one of our insurance clients. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about designing scalable, high-performing data systems. Key Responsibilities β€’ Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouses and data pipelines to support business objectives. β€’ Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures for performance and accuracy. β€’ Build, manage, and enhance SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). β€’ Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements, ensuring alignment with business needs. β€’ Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers, reviewing code and promoting best practices. β€’ Drive improvements in ETL processes, automation, and performance tuning. β€’ Integrate data solutions across multiple systems, supporting enterprise-wide reporting and analytics. β€’ Stay current with industry trends in data warehousing and ETL technologies and recommend new tools or approaches. Required Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). β€’ 5+ years of professional experience in SQL development, SSIS, and enterprise data warehousing. β€’ Proven ability to design and optimize data warehouses, data marts, and ETL processes. β€’ Strong experience with SQL Server and other relational databases. β€’ Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data tools (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, Informatica, SSAS) is a plus. β€’ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail. β€’ Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical teams. β€’ Experience in the insurance industry, particularly Property & Casualty, is a plus. This is an on-site role in Iselin, NJ. Candidates must be local or able to commute, no relocation support is offered.
