Job Description:
Apex Systems is hiring a Data Engineer for a major Healthcare company.
4+ month contract
FULLY REMOTE Anywhere In The United States, CST Preferred.
You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
About the role:
This role will join the Clinical Analytics Engineering team to play a key part in standardizing and consolidating clinical data across internal and vendor platforms into a single model for the enterprise. The clinical data in scope for this project include UM and CM data (Authorizations, Appeals, Cases, Assessments, Correspondences. etc)
The role will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to define department-specific use cases and critical data elements, while also partnering with domain subject matter experts to understand current data structures. The work will help shape efficient, scalable, and standardized solutions that support enterprise-wide efforts in clinical analytics and reporting.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree
2+ years minimum years of related experience.
Technical Skills:
Experience in requirement gathering and documentation.
Demonstrated usage of DBT (Data Build Tool) and Snowflake in a production environment.
Nice to haves: Usage of GIT for version control.
Broad understanding of differences in SQL variations across different platforms (Teradata preferred)
Healthcare background is a plus
Soft Skills:
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty
Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to work independently
Day to Day:
There will be no OT for this project. The day to day will include touchpoints with the whole team (currently 4 other engineers) to go over current work as part of our standard 2x weekly Stand Up.
The early stages of the project will focus heavily on meeting with the multiple teams who either currently support the existing process or are downstream consumers of the data and recording their needs in a business requirements document which will serve as a blueprint for the future solution. Once that requirement gathering phase of the project has reached an appropriate stage, a draft data dictionary will be established and building will begin using a combination of GitLab, DBT, and Snowflake.
While the project may require working with multiple members of the team who specialize in different data domain areas, most work will focus on partnering with a Lead Engineers on the team who will help to set appropriate design, define priorities, delegate tasks, and maintain appropriate project scope.
