Role description
Job Title: Data Engineer Location: Leeds 2x/week Day Rate: £500/day Inside IR35 Duration: Until March 2026 (likely to extend to end of 2026) Role Overview We’re looking for a Data Engineer with strong hands-on technical skills to support the design, development, and optimisation of data pipelines, cloud-based infrastructure, and reporting solutions. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and fit for analysis, while also contributing to the ongoing development of our data capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources. • Deploy and manage cloud resources using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code. • Work with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, Firehose, and CloudWatch. • Design, implement, and optimise SQL queries and data models to support analytics and reporting. • Develop automation and scripts in Python to streamline data processes. • Support data visualisation and reporting through Power BI, ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate insights. • Perform data analysis to validate data integrity and provide insights where required. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analysts, engineers, and business users to deliver data-driven solutions. Key Skills & Experience • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. • Strong knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure automation. • Basic working knowledge of AWS services: S3, Glue, Athena, Firehose, CloudWatch. • Proficiency in SQL for querying, optimisation, and data modelling. • Solid programming experience in Python for ETL, automation, and scripting. • Experience with Power BI for reporting and dashboarding. • Ability to perform data analysis and communicate findings effectively. • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
