Role description
Contract Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric + Snowflake SME
Remote | Up to £500/day | Outside IR35 | 6-Month Initial Contract
Are you a hands-on Data Engineer with proven experience delivering Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake implementations? This is a rare chance to step in as the go-to SME on a high-profile data transformation project. The client is migrating from on-premise to a modern Fabric-based solution and needs someone who can lead the charge – designing, advising, and getting hands-on to bring the solution to life. You’ll be the expert other Fabric engineers look to for direction, while having the freedom to influence architecture and best practice from day one.
What you’ll do:
• Lead the migration of on-premise solutions into Microsoft Fabric
• Be the SME for Fabric & Snowflake, guiding other engineers in the environment
• Deliver hands-on implementations, ensuring scalability and performance
• Contribute advice and expertise on shaping the client’s Fabric journey
Core skills we’re looking for:
• Microsoft Fabric (hands-on implementation essential)
• Snowflake (migration and build experience)
• Strong background in analysing and moving on-prem solutions to Fabric
Nice-to-have exposure (not essential but a big plus):
• Power BI, DAX, and reporting
• Oracle → Snowflake migration experience
• dbt Core, Astronomer Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran
• Finance systems knowledge (Oracle R12, Sub-Ledgers)
Why you’ll love this:
• High-impact role – you’ll be the Fabric expert driving a strategic migration
• Greenfield opportunity – solution is being developed now, your influence matters
• Fully remote & outside IR35 – flexibility and freedom in how you work
• Fast start – SOW signed, the client needs you now
If you’ve successfully delivered Microsoft Fabric + Snowflake solutions and want to own the SME seat on a flagship project, this is the contract for you.
