Microsoft Purview Data Governance Specialist
📍 Remote (U.S. only) Contract through 12.31.25+
We’re seeking a Microsoft Purview Data Governance Specialist to support the execution of a comprehensive data governance strategy. This role will focus on implementing and managing Microsoft Purview capabilities including data cataloging, classification, lineage, and quality across cloud and on-prem environments.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy and configure Microsoft Purview (Data Map, Unified Catalog, Workflows)
• Integrate Purview with Azure, M365, and other data sources
• Support data quality initiatives: profiling, scoring, remediation, and reporting
• Apply sensitivity labels, encryption, and protection policies
• Provide training and documentation to drive adoption
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align governance with compliance needs
🧠 Required Skills & Experience:
• 7–10 years with Microsoft technologies; 1–2 years with Purview
• Strong Azure experience (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Data Lake)
• Hands-on with Microsoft Information Protection, AIP, RBAC, DLP, and eDiscovery
• Proficient in Power BI for governance reporting
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
✅ Preferred:
• Certifications: Microsoft Compliance, Azure Fundamentals, Data Analyst
• Background in healthcare data governance (HIPAA, GDPR)
• Experience with master/reference data management and Microsoft CoPilot
