Role description

Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a new Data & Insight Analyst to join our Regulation department to take responsibility for the accuracy and availability of our data. With automation and continual improvement being key success criteria for this role, you will take the lead with developing Power BI reports to generate insights and partner with other departments to unlock and combine datasets.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
• Gather and compile data from various sources.
• Work within a Regulatory framework ensuring data and information is accurate, timely and assured
• Implement and lead a data assurance project
• Automation of existing reporting
• Develop Power BI reports to fulfil business requirements
• Using methods and analytical tools to interpret data, discover trends and derive insights
• Utilise techniques to predict future trends or outcomes based on historical data
• Ad-hoc data gathering, collation and reporting as requested by the business
• Attention to detail and a continual improvement approach
• Deputise for manager and coach other members of the team
• Work with stakeholders to identify reporting requirements to provide data insights
• Present findings through visualisations to make complex data more understandable and actionable
• Act as a ‘Business Partner’ to multiple senior managers to drive engagement, insight and resilience
• Represent the business at Regulator, Industry and various internal stakeholder meetings
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
• Interpreting data, analysing results and reporting on a variety of business metrics
• Developing and implementing data collection systems and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality
• Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources
• Automating reports and continually improving processes
• Clearly conveying findings, both written and orally, to non-technical stakeholders. This includes creating reports and presentations that gives the insights from the data
• Experience working with AI or a scripting language (ideally Python, R)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Demonstrate a curiosity for understanding key datasets and their drivers with an ability for critical thinking
• Continual personal development by learning new skills and being aware of emerging technological trends
• Working as part of a team
• Experienced in using analytical tools like Power BI, Excel and similar applications
• Experience of meeting deadlines in a highly regulated environment
