What You Will Be Doing Optimatics is looking for a highly motivated water/wastewater engineer or data scientist to join our Strategic Support Team (SST). You will be joining a team of innovative thinkers and engineers working at the forefront of applying optimisation and machine learning to water systems. As part of the SST, you will work directly with our clients on their use of the Optimizer™ and AssetAdvanced™ software packages to optimise planning decisions for their water infrastructure networks. The SST is responsible for assisting, educating and guiding users of Optimatics software as well as delivering pilot applications. Candidates should have strong backgrounds in hydraulic modelling, data science or optimisation. As much of this work is either directly with clients or as part of a diverse delivery team, excellent communication skills are essential. Essential Duties Support and guide utility and consultant engineers’ and planners’ applications of the Optimizer™ and AssetAdvanced™ software including : Support delivery of user trainings and ongoing education Provide strategic direction and insights for customers’ planning efforts Assist with hydraulic model and input data review & preparation Deliver Pilot Implementations Of The Software Deliver applications of the Optimizer™ software in connection with a range of hydraulic modelling software Deliver applications of the AssetAdvanced™ software Explore opportunities for new applications with users Identify strategies for improved user experience, efficiencies, or automation Contribute To Product Development, Including Test new functionality and identify upgrades to Optimizer™ and AssetAdvanced™ Assist with software and project documentation Travel to current and potential customers (as appropriate) Who We Are Looking For Education/Certifications/Experience BSc/BEng or higher in Civil/Environmental Engineering 1+ years of professional experience in the water sector Chartered Member of a recognised engineering institution or working towards the chartership Technical • Understanding of and experience working with water utility networks, both collection and distribution • Distribution/transmission system modelling experience (e.g. EPANET, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks WS Pro) • Collection system H&H modelling experience with InfoWorks ICM (other software will be an advantage, e.g. EPASWMM, MIKE 1D) • Proficient in GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS) • Advanced data analysis skillsets including coding or data visualization software Non-Technical • Excellent communication skills • Project management experience • Ability to manage customer experience and relationships • Strong presentation and teaching abilities Preferences • Understanding of and practical experience working on public utility asset management challenges & projects • Knowledge of and experience with optimisation techniques and their application to water systems • Experience with Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or other languages • Data science experience, including data interpretation & visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI) • Experience working on international and multilingual projects Core Values • Be Agile: We are agile within our software development, how we support our customers around the world, how we sell our solutions, and how we operate within our company.
