Data Migration Analyst

Title - Data Migration Analyst Location - Remote We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst / Data Specialist to help unravel and document the existing complex Hadoop environment and define a clear architectural migration path into Databricks and Unity Catalog. Key Responsibilities • Dive deep into the existing Hadoop environment, investigating the current state of complex data structures, views, and relationships within a proprietary Kroger platform. • Analyze and document data lineage, relationships, dependencies, and transformation logic. • Identify redundancies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization in the current data architecture. • Define and document a clear migration roadmap to Databricks and Unity Catalog. • Partner with engineering teams to ensure documentation supports implementation and aligns with enterprise architecture standards. • Work with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure new models reflect accurate business processes and data flow. • Produce high-quality documentation, including architecture diagrams, flowcharts, technical specifications, and future-state blueprints. Required Skills & Experience • Strong documentation and communication skills — must be able to clearly capture and present complex technical information. • Hands-on experience with Hadoop data structures and query environments. • Databricks / Unity Catalog exposure — understanding of data organization, access, and governance in Databricks. • Strong analytical ability to trace, map, and untangle complex data webs (SQL, metadata analysis, etc.). • Proven experience documenting large-scale data ecosystems, data models, and lineage. • Ability to design a logical data migration plan with emphasis on simplicity and maintainability. Preferred / Nice to Have • Background in Supply Chain, Transportation, Freight, or Logistics domains. • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on data modernization or migration projects. • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and enterprise metadata management. • Exposure to Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, or Unity Catalog data lineage tools.
