Role description
Title: Data Modeler Location: Trenton, NJ (Onsite) Duration: 10-12+ months (with possible extension) Job Description We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Modeler (SOM) Specialist to design and implement modern data modeling solutions to meet our client's needs. This role involves creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various databases, including AWS Redshift, S3, Dynamo DB, DB2, and Postgres. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database tuning, and the development of structured and unstructured data models for business intelligence and analytics. This will be a full-time contract role and hybrid in Trenton, NJ. What You'll Do • Design and implement modern data modeling solutions using relational, dimensional, snowflake, star schemas, and data lake models • Collaborate with Application Development teams to build data strategies, data flows, and conceptual data models • Optimize and update data models to support data initiative projects throughout various implementation phases • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models and analyze variances across source systems • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency • Evaluate system integration challenges and recommend appropriate solutions • Work with IT teams to address performance requirements, project limitations, and interfaces • Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency and performance What You'll Need Required: • 8+ years of experience in data modeling for databases such as DB2, AWS Redshift, Dynamo DB, Postgres, SQL Server, and PEGA Applications • 6+ years of experience with data modeling software • Proficiency in AWS and other cloud systems • Strong SQL and data profiling skills across various relational databases • Experience in building data lakes for structured and unstructured data • Database tuning techniques • Expertise in relational data, dimensional data, unstructured data, and master data • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision Preferred: • Exposure to Snowflake's Cloud Data Warehouse • Knowledge of modern data management trends and modeling techniques
